If you want to see more engagement and spiritual depth in your class, try one of these:

  1. What does it mean to trust God—and what does that look like in hard times?

  2. When have you felt distant from God? How did you respond?

  3. What’s a command in Scripture you find especially hard to follow?

  4. How do you measure spiritual growth in your own life?

  5. Why do you think Jesus spoke in parables, and which one speaks to your life today?

  6. Have you ever forgiven someone who didn’t deserve it? What helped you?

  7. What’s an area of your life where God has been changing you lately?

These kinds of questions draw people into Scripture and into honest reflection. They make your class feel less like a quiz—and more like a community.

Deep Questions to Ask About Life for Bible Study Growth

Of course, asking good questions is only part of the equation. You also need to create an atmosphere where people feel safe being honest.

Here are a few tips:

  • Model vulnerability. Start by answering a question yourself in a personal way.

  • Listen well. Don’t rush in to fix or explain—just give space.

  • Limit the number of questions. One powerful question can sometimes carry the whole class.

  • Pray together. It centers the group and reminds everyone that this is spiritual work, not just discussion.

When people know they’re not being judged, they begin to share more freely. That’s when the Spirit does His best work.

What If You Don’t Have Time to Write These Questions?

We get it. Writing good discussion questions takes time—and if you’re a busy volunteer teacher, you may not have tons of hours to prepare every week.

That’s why we created StevesBibleQuestions.com. We offer:

  • Weekly guides with ready-made questions

  • Keyed to the verses you're already teaching

  • Questions that fit with existing LifeWay Bible Studies for Life or Explore the Bible materials

  • A free sample to try before subscribing

Our goal isn’t to replace your curriculum—it’s to enrich it with questions that make the Bible come alive for your group.

Imagine Your Class Like This...

Imagine your class coming alive with conversation—not just about Scripture, but about how it applies to Monday morning. Imagine people feeling safe enough to say, “I don’t know,” or “I’m struggling.”Imagine adults praying for each other, challenging each other, and growing together.

That’s the power of a deep question. And that’s the kind of adult Sunday School class we believe in.

At StevesBibleQuestions.com, we’re here to help you create that kind of environment. One question at a time. Click here to get a sample.
