Explore the Bible Discussion Questions: A Valuable Resource for Adult Teachers

Lifeway's Explore the Bible® curriculum takes adults through Scripture book by book, helping them understand God's Word in its Biblical, historical, and cultural context. But understanding the passage and discussing it together aren't always the same thing.

That's where Explore the Bible discussion questions can help. Our Explorations discussion guides use the same weekly Scripture passages as Explore the Bible and provide ready-to-use questions that help adults examine the text, talk about what it means, and consider how God's Word should shape everyday life. They're designed to supplement your Explore the Bible curriculum - not replace it.

1. Explore the Bible Discussion Questions That Keep Adults in the Text

Explore the Bible provides the Biblical background, context, themes, and teaching material you need to prepare for the lesson. Explorations adds questions designed to help your class investigate that same Scripture passage together.

Instead of simply telling adults what the passage says, you can ask questions that send them back into the text to discover and discuss it for themselves.

2. Questions That Encourage Deeper Discussion

Good Bible discussion questions do more than test whether someone was listening. They encourage adults to observe carefully, think about what they believe, listen to one another, and wrestle with what the passage means.

Each Explorations guide includes ten original discussion questions, along with supporting Scripture references that can help your class dig deeper.

3. Moving From Understanding to Application

Bible study shouldn't end with understanding what a passage meant. We also need to ask what God's Word means for the way we live.

That's why each Explorations guide includes a Life Application section designed to help adults consider how the Biblical truths they've discussed should affect their attitudes, decisions, relationships, and actions.

4. Easy to Use - and Easy to Share

Each Explorations lesson is a printable, one-page PDF. You can print copies for your class or email the guide to class members ahead of time.

I like to send mine on Tuesday with a short note something like this:

Hi __________, This week in Bible Study, we'll be looking at __________ (Scripture passage). Please take a look at the attached sheet and jot down a few responses to the questions. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Sunday. Blessings, Steve

Sending the questions ahead of time gives people a chance to think before Sunday - and sometimes helps quieter class members come prepared to participate.
